SU summer camp - all your parents need to know!

”Sommerleir” – The Summer Camp – is the biggest event of the Socialist Youth every year. It has been a great success the last fifteen years and it keeps growing. From July 31st to August 5nd this year 300 to 400 youngsters between 13 and 30 years of age will spend a week together at the beautiful island Risøya near Tvedestrand.

The first day the participants will start by putting up the tents where we will be sleeping and getting to know the football court, the beach, the showers and the fireplace at the island, as well as the different tents placed there for this event: the radio tent, a small shop run by the Youth itself, the improvised bookstore and the big tent where concerts will be held and where the youngsters will meet a whole lot of new friends from all over Norway.

Participation at the camp costs 1100kr which include travel costs, food and the stay at the island for 6 days, as well as concerts and attendance to political and cultural workshops. For those who join the trade union NTL the price will be reduced to 500kr (check out www.ntl.no) and in some counties the SV Party will help the local participants with some hundreds. Vegetarian and halal food will be served for the ones asking for that when signing up for the camp, as goes for special food for participants with allergies. Use of alcohol or other drugs will of course not be tolerated at the camp, nor for participants older than 18.

A proper group of members of the Socialist Youth are responsible for all practical things related to the camp and will handle any problem that might occur. We can answer any question you as a parent might have before the camp, or during the camp. Please contact Secretary of Camp Mali Tronsmoen on cel. 95946614 or Boss of Camp Thomas Tallaksen on cel. 99249509 whatever your concern as a parent might be. For participants with special needs please don’t hesitate to give us a call and we will be helpful in arranging so that our Summer Camp will be a great experience for anyone who wants to join!
